By harnessing the unique beauty of crystals, you can change your life: they can bring you everything your heart desires - if you know how to access their power.
Crystals have been used for thousands of years for adornment and to influence the course of life. Ancient people believed they were gifts from the Gods and their magical properties have been recognized in almost every culture. Some stones have been used since time immemorial while new stones have recently emerged to aid humanity. There is an abundance of crystal lore - if you know where to look for it. Crystals come in all shapes and sizes.
An engagement ring containing a diamond or other gems is given as a symbol of something rare and precious that will last for ever. At the heart of our deep and longlasting regard for these valuable and beautiful glittering gifts of the Earth is the idea that they are eternally special.

Fortunately, as well as precious stones, there are crystals like quartz, amethyst, monnstone or garnet, which are also beautiful and much more affordable, either as jewellery, stones for a collection or for healing purposes.
Crystals and gemstones are great tools for balancing the energies of the body, mind and spirit. This is a practice with dep historical roots; many stones have ancient associations with different physical or mental conditions.
In india to this very day, gems are ground to a powder and mixed with water, then drunk for their healing properties, just as they were hundreds of years ago.
Crystals can be used to beautify and clear the energies of your environment, as tools for meditation and contemplation, and of course can also be worn.
You may find that you have instinctively brought crystals into your environment and this is usually because you required the healing properties of that stone.
Bringing crystals into your personal space is a way of creating a connection with the Earth, since all crystals are born and grow within our planets structure. If you use them with care and respect, crystals will share with you the positive energy of their light, colour and beauty. whether you simply collect or wear them or use them to enhance energy, crystals are a source of wonder!
When you chose a crystal - it will seem to 'call' to you as if it has been waiting for you.
This is because you and that crystal are on the same frequency.
The crystal will 'catch your eye' and you will feel an immediate connection, even if it is not the crystal you came for. When you hold the crystal in your hand, you will feel a connection of frequency.
Some people find crystals. Some people 'feel' that crystals find them.
Once you have your crystal - the next step is to clean and clear the energies from it. You clear it to clean frequencies in it that are not in balance for with you.
Quartz crystals and gemstones easily attract all kinds of 'vibrations'; negative as well as positive. The stones are always 'open' to receiving impressions from everyone and everything around them! Your stone, which you have just selected, may well have traveled many thousands of miles before coming to you - and may well have acquired many negative energies and ' vibrations' before it became yours.
Therefore before starting to use your stone for any purpose whatsoever it is very important that you first remove any of these unwanted 'vibrations' and disharmonious energies. You must do everything you possibly can to ensure that only the most natural - and purest - energies remain within your stone.
When you first bring a crystal into your environment it should be cleansed. Crystals gather negative energies very easily and your crystal is no exception. From the moment your crystal is retrieved from the ground it begins to exchange its positive energies for negative ones. It is handled by many different people before it reaches you, and needs to be cleansed and recharged with positive energy. It is great if you can buy crystals that have been carefully removed from the earth and not those that have been blasted
out of quarries. Ft makes a huge difference to the health of the crystal if they are handled with care and consideration throughout their journey. Those that are not cared for need a little love and attention before they are repaired and well enough to begin their work with you.
There are many ways of cleansing crystals, and you can use whichever is easiest or you feel has the most effect.
*In Water*
You may hold the crystal in running water, preferably a spring or stream, although under the tap will suffice. As the water passes over the stone it will wash away any negative energies. Place the gemstone in sunlight to dry naturally.
*By Smudging*
Smudging the gemstones with sage or cedar is also sufficient. You may waft the smoke from the burning sage over the crystal or alternatively hold the crystal in the path of the smoke. Allow the smoke to carry the negativity out of an open window.
*In the Earth*
Your crystals can be buried in the earth over night where the Earth's magnetic field will cleanse them. Be careful with some stones, as they may disintegrate!
*Under the Full Moon*
Placing crystals outside in the light of a full moon is a lovely way to cleanse them. Leave them overnight for cleansing and a complete recharge.
*With Light Energy*
A simple way of cleansing a crystal is by holding it in your left hand and holding your right hand an inch or two over it. Imagine energy in the form of white light, or Reiki, passing from your hand into the crystal. Ask out
loud or mentally for all negative energies to dissipate from the crystal and for it to hold only positive energy. This may take a few seconds or a few minutes depending on the condition of the crystal. When the crystal is recharged with positive energy you will feel a slight pressure pushing up into the palm of your right hand.
*By Sound*
If you have a bell you can use the high pitched tone to cleanse your gemstones extremely effectively.
*With Breath*
The simplest way of cleansing crystals is to gently blow over them, visualising the negative energies carried away on your breath and dissipating on a passing breeze.
NB. Do not use salt or salt water to cleanse or purify your crystals as it is a very harsh acidic substance and can cause damage to your crystals.
***** Programming Crystals *****
Once a crystal has been cleansed it then needs to be programmed. You can programme it to carry out a variety of tasks.
Firstly hold the crystal in your right hand palm with the point facing your body. Calm your mind so that you are able to transfer your thoughts to the stone. They do not respond to your voice but will to your thoughts, and to colour and sound. Begin to channel white light through your crown chakra and out of your palms, where it will infuse the crystal, instilling it with a balancing and healing power.
Alternatively you can also hold the crystal in your left hand with the point facing upwards, with your right hand held above. Again channel the white light in through your crown chakra, out through your palms and into the crystal.
Now you are ready to programme your crystal. Ask for it to be programmed with any of the following;
* to give protection
* to bring harmony and balance
* to emit healing energies
* to expel negative energies
* to release blockages in the aura and chakras
* to bring health and happiness
* to be self cleansing by allowing the negative
energies to dissipate.
The crystal will respond well if you can imagine an example of your request in your mind.
Cleansing and reprogramming the crystal regularly might be necessary, especially if it has been used to remove negative energy from a room for instance. Within a couple of weeks the crystal may be saturated with negative energy and will need to be cleansed. It is well worth programming the crystal to be self cleansing in addition to its other programming.
Once a crystal has been awakened and energised it should be kept in the open, and placed in natural sunlight for a few hours each week as this will help to keep it energised. Avoid keeping them in areas where there is flourescent lighting as this can alter their molecular structure and cause permanent damage. Likewise, don't place them on or near magnetic objects. Crystals stay bright when you communicate with them through thought. They enjoy soothing music and a calm atmosphere. Your crystals are living beings and should be treated with care and love.
Amber: This "good luck" stone brings the purifying, revitalizing force of the sun and the absorptive, transmuting energy of the earth together to create a powerful tool. Draws disease out of the body and transforms it. Clears negativity. 2nd chakra.
Amethyst: Spiritual Upliftment.
Aquamarine: Remind one of the Ocean of Love and Mercy. Stone of the new heart chakra center.
Aventurine: Helps heal the Heart, lungs, and adrenals. 4th chakra
Azurite: Helps - Surfaces psychic blocks that form physical blocks-- Helps to let go of old belief systems - Helps heal throat, arthiritis & joints, spleen, and spine. 5th and 6th chakras.
Bloodstones: Helps heal all blood disorders, lungs, eyesight, and heart. 1st chakra.
Carnelian: Balance creativity and mental processes. Helps asthma, and blood pressure. 2nd chakra.
Citrine: Upliftment - Helps digestion, circulation. 2nd, and 3rd chakra's
Coral: Emotional balance
Diamond: Increase personal clarity. Balances metabolism, de-toxifies the body, and strengthens the eyesight. Vivifies all chakras
Emerald: Physical and emotional healing - tranquilizing affect on the heart and mind, inspiring calm, clear assurance. 4th chakra and higher.
Hematite: Helps heal, tumors and anemia. 6th, 7th chakras
Herkimer diamond: My personal favorite: Chakra cleanser. Protects against radiation. De-toxes the body.
Jade: Strengthens the heart , kidneys and immune system. Helps cleanse the blood. Increases longevity and fertility. Aids in eye disorders and female problems.
Jaspar: Helps tissue regeneration and smell. 1st, 2nd chakras
Kunzite: Heals the heart. 4th chakra and up
Lapis Lazuli: Strengthens the immune system. 6th chakra.
Malachite: Harmony and balance
Moldavite: Take you out of your body--very power for astral travel
Moonstone: Absorbs pain and illness. Regenerates the tissues and organs. Heals reproductive system. 4th chakra.
Black Obsidian: Grounding stone.
Onyx: Helpful in treating glaucoma, epilepsy, and cell damage. Attuned to 1st and 5th chakra's.
Opal: See possibilities; Discover a broader view. Heals and clears eyesight, and balances the metabolism. 5th, 6th, and 7th chakras.
Peridot: Strengthens, and regenerates all organs, stimulating new, healthy growth. Balances bio-rythmic cycles. Protects the user from negativity. Helps heal infection, ulcers, and thyroid. 4th chakra.
Topaz: Helps to break up stagnation of energy within the body, and assists with the elimination of toxins. 3rd chakra and higher.
While Amber isn't a stone or mineral, it is most generally classified with both. Amber is in fact tree resin, or the blood of the tree. It is always warm to the touch and imparts the glowing, golden essence of the sun. Amber gives us an intensified awareness of the plant world and its devic energies. It will also remind us of the potential within us to work with the sentient earth energies in bringing peace.
An alchemical and transformative substance, Amber reminds us to guard nature if we are to live in harmony and balance on the planet. Amber appears solid yet, under certain circumstance, it will re-liquefy and then again solidify while still remaining true to its original composition. Just as the Earth is a mirror of how we treat ourselves and one another, so too, Amber shows us how to be flexible and non-resistant under certain circumstances. Just rubbing a natural piece of Amber will bring out its sweet and soothing scent.
Amber can move confusion and imbalance through the body and help the emotional body accept its part in physical existence as a bridge between realities. If you're feeling insecure, Amber can also provide the freedom to move more surely.
Because of it's warmth and magnetic qualities, it eases stress, balances emotions and clears the mind. In ancient goddess cultures, Amber was used by the head priestess as an amulet of protection while doing ceremony to protect the entire group because of it's ability to absorb and neutralize negativity. And wearing an amber necklace can prevent sore throats, especially tonsillitis. I was also used to purify the blood and the aura.
