Tarot is more than just the laying of cards upon a table. It is an ancient story which tells the story of each and every person's journey through life. Starting with the Fool card the tale weaves its way through the perils and pitfalls we all face. The Fool journeys through each archetype in the Major Arcana, including both the male and female aspects of himself, the awakening to the reality of the world around him. He encounters his own ego in the Devil, and learns to take control of it in the Tower. His travels take him through the cleansing process of the Underworld, and into the dreamland of the Moon, to the Sun and a new enlightenment, and at last to the World. Here in this last card he finds peace and harmony are within himself and cannot be found elsewhere. As he travels through the Major Arcana, he finds himself dealing with the benefits and the pitfalls that the Minor Arcana represent. His dealings with others, and the world of role playing he is learning are reflected in the Court Cards. Learning the language of the Tarot unlocks a powerful tool to reach our subconscious mind, and to take a look at our inner self.
This class will help you to learn the basics of Tarot. You will learn the meanings of the cards, and ways to create a 'bridge' between yourself and the person you are reading for. The lessons will be broken down into easy to follow ideas and suggestions to help you to open up to your own intuitive divinatory abilities.
The goal of this class is to assist the Tarot student to learn the meanings of the cards, and how to weave them together using a layout to create an accurate and ethical reading for yourself or your client. This is an excellent class for those who wish to learn to become Tarot readers.
Full reference guides for the Minor Arcana, Major Arcana and the Court Cards will be available for reading and printing, to aid you in your development (These can be found on the Tarot Board in our Forum). For this class, students will be required to have their own tarot deck, as all lessons will involve hands on practice. The class will be held in the our reading Room. Students may also want to make them selves a diary to record their progress and keep any notes. Just go to Members Diary Pages in our Forum to do this.
This class is recommended for those 18 years and older.
The medium, like the psychic, is naturally sensitive to mental influences and magnetism, both from the discarnate and the incarnate Spirit but through development and training learns to control such influences and recognise the level at which he or she is working. The medium takes steps to control and use his or her faculties to become a channel for discarnate Spirit. This sensitivity makes the medium aware of the emanations from the Spirit world surrounding the Spirit body which is within this material world, but not of it.
Through development the medium learns to become more sensitive to vibrations from the Spirit world and more selective for, as the medium develops, he/she becomes aware of the emanations from several controlling Spirits who become guides or helpers, each specialising in some function for which the medium is used as an instrument. These functions are many - e.g. healing, clairvoyance, clairsentience, clairaudience,trance, speeches, automatic writing etc.
Here in this Development Circle, students will have the chance to learn and participate in certain exercises. These exercises will serve to stimulate the psychic sense; to educate the student on the difference between psychism and mediumship and also to allow the students to "give off" the thoughts and feelings they are experiencing whilst carrying out these various experiments. These sort of practical exercises will hopefully, encourage students to practice speaking in public which will help their growth of confidence and will give them experience of reading spiritually. The circle is open to beginners and the more experienced of you. This should help us all in our development.
The actual development of a students mediumship is, of cause, always in the hands of the Spirit within the circle, plus the helpers of the student, guided always by the circle leader.
Students of mediumship and of Spiritualism should be aware of the extent of their own psychic ability as well as being aware of the difference in feeling, in content, and in the quality of the message, when a link with Spirit has been made, to that felt when working on a purely psychic level. This, will, with practice within a good circle be made clearer to the student which will give us the true value of a good development circle. Members participating in these classes may find it helpful to open them selves a diary, on the Diary pages (You will find this in our Forum), so that they can keep a record of their progress. And in time to come, can go back to their diary and see how far they have come. So please feel free to open yourself a diary.

(a) To give evidence that life is eternal, in order to:
(i) comfort the bereaved and
(ii) be of service to mankind
(b) to be a link between the two worlds of matter and the world of Spirit;
(c) to discover the truths of Spiritualism and the teachings of Spirit within and without the movement of Spiritualism.
MEDIUMSHIP IS NOT, THEREFORE, TO BE UNDERTAKEN LIGHTLY.
This class will be run in the Reading Room.
